Pantone Color of the Year for 2015: 18-1438 Marsala

Big news announced today for the design industry. Pantones Spring colors for 2015 have me super excited, I’m loving the Lucite Green, Glacier Grey and Titanium…but the BIG news today is MARSALA! Marsala is part of the 2015 fashion color report for Pantone and it has been chosen as 2015 leading color of the year. Marsala, as in…you guessed it, wine? Yes, welcome 18-1438 Marsala, the earthy wine red color that is the “foundation for Spring/Summer 2015 palette”.

“…Marsala enriches our mind, body and soul, exuding confidence and stability,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®.

“Much like the fortified wine that gives Marsala its name, this tasteful hue embodies the satisfying richness of a fulfilling meal, while its grounding red-brown roots emanate a sophisticated, natural earthiness. This hearty, yet stylish tone is universally appealing and translates easily to fashion, beauty, industrial design, home furnishings and interiors.”

So what do you think of Marsala, it’s quite a reversal when compared to the last three years of vibrant colors like Radiant Orchid, Emerald and Tangerine Tango. I personally like it, I do see it working its way into my home and fashion. (Of course I will still be crushing on those vibrant 2015 colors, because Lucite Green, Glacier Gray are just awesome).
